Note to current supporters: Please excuse our temporary set up as we work out some bugs. You may not see your child on the site or the totals reflected on his or her progress bar might be incorrect. We are working to fix this.
Becoming a child sponsor is a great way to connect with our ministry and see the tangible benefits of your donation. Sponsorship is key to our work and allows us to make plans for the children’s care, shelter, schooling, etc.
Please know that we do not take your investment in our children lightly! We are mindful of the numerous great causes and we are thankful you are choosing to partner with us. We strive to bring you news, updates, photos And other information about the child you are sponsoring and our work In Haiti In a timely manner and as often as possible
We are a 100% volunteer organization (stateside). We do not have a staff and our board covers all travel and administrative costs required to operate the organization. This means 100% of your donation goes to the kids! It also means we are small and many of our volunteers have full time jobs elsewhere to keep grangou going.
If you need anything along the way, please do not hesitate to reach out to one of us. We will do our best to answer questions or concerns as quickly as possible.
Full Sponsorship Needed
As a monthly sponsor, you will be matched with one of the children in our home, Travay Bondye. We will mail photos of your child annually and provide other updates periodically by email. Children may have more than one sponsor.
The average cost per child per month living in the home is $175. Suggested sponsorship levels are $35, 50, 75, 100 and 175. However, our web site also allows you to choose a custom amount for sponsorship. We appreciate all donations! Sponsorship amounts represent what can be procured for the designated amount. For example, $35 is the average amount spent per child per month for food and $50 represents all school costs for one child per month.
The children living at Travay Bondye have been placed in our care for various reasons. While some of our children are true orphans, many of our kids have at least one living parent. Many of our kids were abandoned to the street or come from abusive homes. Some children have been assigned to us by Haitian social services. Extreme poverty is a reason that some children have come to us in the past, but we try to encourage and help facilitate families staying together whenever possible. We occasionally provide temporary shelter for homeless children while their parents seek work or housing. We can reunite children with their families from time to time. Haiti does not have a foster care system or any funded programs for children.
While a sponsorship matches you with a child for purposes of getting to know a child, sponsorship funds are directed to the general operating budget in Haiti and used for all children. For example, a child without a sponsor will still got to school.
Our goal is to have every child sponsored 100 percent. If you cover the average cost per child in full, there will not be another sponsor matched to your child. If you sponsor a portion of the cost, your matched child may have more one than sponsor to cover the entire cost. This allows many people to participate in the program at different levels and allows complete coverage for all children. We are thankful for every sponsor!
Please send letters and pictures at any time! However, we ask that you not send packages or gifts outside designated times. We do not have consistent shipping opportunities. We do offer opportunities to send a package for your child two times per year. Summer offers a back to school option with backpacks and school shoes and Christmas allows for a special gift. We will notify sponsors when these collections are being organized. They are optional.
All sponsorships will continue until requested to be terminated by sponsor. Please notify us by mail or email.
If your card is declined it typically is due to an expired card or new card. Please contact us with new information asap. You will receive automatic notifications when this happens that contain our contact info or you can login to your account and make changes. After several attempts without response, your account will automatically be terminated.
