Grangou was founded in July 2008 by Mike and Carrie Gibson. After traveling to Haiti for a mission trip connected with a Haitian adoption they knew they were called to serve for the long term in Haiti. After several trips, plans were laid to start Grangou and begin serving Haitians in need.
Mike Gibson, President
Michael is a co-founder of Grangou and currently serves as its President. He has been working in Haiti since 2007 in various capacities. He co-founded Grangou with his wife, Carrie, in 2008 in order to provide support spiritually, physically, and mentally to the people and children of Haiti, focusing on outreach to homeless children on the streets of Port-au-Prince.
Carrie Gibson, CFO and Secretary
Carrie is co-founder of Grangou and serves as its Secretary. Carrie has been working in Haiti since 2007 in various capacities. Carrie has a passion for children and leads a Vacation Bible School trip and Christmas trip every year to children in Haiti.
Pierre Alexis, Board Member
Pierre has been a board member of Grangou since 2009. Pierre oversees day-to-day operations for Grangou in Haiti. Pierre has been led to work with children his entire life and is called “Papi Pierre” in Haiti.
Pierre is currently the Director of Maison de enfants de Dieu orphanage in Port-au-prince. Pierre also serves on the board of For His Glory Outreach, a charitable organization that supports the Maison orphanage. Pierre is married with four daughters and lives in the Delmas district of Port-au-prince. Pierre is associate Pastor of Brilliant Side Baptist Church and leads the music and outreach ministries there. Pierre enjoys reading, spending time with God, and playing with his daughters.
Bill Sisco, Board Member
Bill retired in 2006 from Distribution and Auto service,Inc where he last served as President and COO.He joined the Grangou Board in 2008 while working with Maison de enfants de Dieu orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti as a fund raiser.
Currently Bill is also on the Board of Family Promise of Montgomery County which serves Homeless Families with Children, serves as a Volunteer Chaplain in the Montgomery County Jail where he maintains an eyeglass ministry and serves in West Conroe Baptist Church.Bill lives in Montgomery, Texas with Kathy, his wife of 41 years. Together they enjoy spending time with their eight grandchildren(including two from Haiti), playing golf and sitting in the back yard.
John Norris, Board Member
Mr Norris is Chairman and CEO, Midwest Energy Emissions Corp (MEEC). MEEC is a company specializing in highly effective and cost efficient mercury control technologies. Prior to joining MEEC, Mr Norris was President & CEO of Fuel Tech, Inc. Previously, he was Senior VP, Operations & Technical Services at AEP, where he was responsible for all non-nuclear power generation, coal mines, engineering & construction, rail cars and maintenance facilities, environmental labs, natural gas storage and pipelines, etc. In this position, Mr Norris ran the largest power generation fleet, including the largest coal fired fleet, in the nation. Prior to AEP, Mr Norris was President & COO, American Bureau of Shipping Group. From 1982-1999 Mr Norris was with Duke Energy in progressively more responsible positions from Assistant Engineer to Corporate Senior VP, Chairman and CEO Duke Energy Global Asset Development which included all power related assets outside of NC and SC. Prior to Duke Energy, Mr Norris was in the USAF where he flew fighters (F-4 and A-10), twice each earning the Meritorious Service Medal and the Commendation Medal.
Mr Norris is a Nuclear Engineering graduate from North Carolina State University, where he also played varsity football. He is married and has a son. They live in Delaware, Ohio, where Mr Norris is also President of All Shepherds Lutheran Church and teaches adult Sunday School. He is on the Board of Grangou and the Industrial Advisory Board of the Dept of Nuclear Engineering at NSCU. He is a registered professional engineer in Ohio and NC.
Gary Kennedy, Board Member
Gary was born and raised in Ft. Worth, Texas. He attended Texas Tech University and received a BBA- Accounting in 1972. Four years later, he began his career in the healthcare industry, working as the chief financial officer in several hospitals. After accepting a management position in a hospital company he and his family relocated to Tennessee, where they have lived for over two decades.
Gary and his wife enjoy living in the same community with their two sons, daughter in laws and four grand children. He has been a member of Christ Community Church for almost 20 years. Gary enjoys traveling, fishing and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.
